Waiting For An Immortal Son

I saw him, while waiting for a friend of mine, across the road...

I sensed something in him... Something different, in his looks... Took his photographs, discreetly...

He waited... Waited... And then looked at his bare wrist... Pretending looking at his watch, and then stood up...

"Didn't come again..", he said... Sighed faintly and started walking towards the setting sun...

My friend came, at the time he was leaving...

And told me his story...

He was waiting for his son...

For the last 18 years...

His only son, who died in south-east Turkey while doing his military service, in an ambush of the Kurdish terrorists, 18 years ago...

Not being able to accept this fact, he closed himself into his house... For one whole year...

Then, at the very day his son used to come home for the sacrificial celebration, he left his house...

And waited for his bus to arrive... For 2 hours, in each of the four days of the celebration...

And then, he started doing this, every year... For every possible day his son can come...

Wearing his best clothes and waiting for him, in the same place...

Waiting for his immortal son, to see him come from where The Sun sets...
