I used to love a girl, once...

I was 6, then...

She was 13...

I used to watch her from the keyhole of her classroom...

She was the purest of girls, dark eyes, dark hair, with the brightest of smiles...
Like blue velvet under sunlight...
Making my heart pound with the purest of love...

I used to take her to my truck, in my house...
I thought we had 7 kids...
I used to leave them to my mother to look after...

And we would go far, far away...

To the corridor just outside the living room...

* * *

A few weeks ago,

I learnt that she died...

Of cancer...

She had two kids...

* * *

And now I think:

Before that monster...

How I wished I could really take her,

far, far away from death...

with my truck...

I know an artist who told me that they feel no emotional attachment to their art. I will never understand them. You pour your heart and soul into your photographs. You complete them and make them real with your stories. You take the time to create this still life world for us, and that's why I take the time to observe it. You brought tears to my eyes...

As dark and sad your photograph seems, it is still so beautiful. I hope the life she lived was just as beautiful, if not more.
